Oh Daddy Dear, Where have you been?
We've missed our time together, my hero, my friend.
It's time to let that ol' coal mine run on it's own,
and take us fishing a long way from home.
There's a mountain stream that we would love to explore,
with all sorts of critters where natures beauty is galore.
We will climb across rocks and broken weathered trees,
come along dad, won't you please.
Patiently untangling knots and casting our reels in the breeze,
Your coal stained hands are guiding us with such gentle ease.
Like your dad did, many years ago,
Took you fishing to that secret fishing hole.
No time clocks or worries, no coal to claim.
Just the 3 of us, 2 that carry your name.
No big fish stories found here today,
Still our time with you has been "The Catch of the Day".
