Reflecting Back 2010

The Maddox household has seen its ups and downs this year.  A lot of changes for our family and I'm not one to take change lightly when it involves people I hold dear to my heart.   As I reflect upon the past year, the song by Gary Allan "Life Ain't Always Beautiful" comes to mind.

In January, Kris said goodbye as a team member to one of the best group of men that I've ever known.  The Ky Coal Academy Trainers, Staff, Team Members, and families will always hold a special place in our hearts.  I am so grateful for the time Kris was able to train and serve with leaders and team members of that caliber.  It was a special time for him and for our family as well.  It opened many doors for his career in the coal industry and allowed him grow in so many areas.  These people will never know how they have touched our family with their kindness and generosity.

In February we said goodbye to Kris' Uncle Don.  What a character he was.  Always cracking a joke or telling a tall tale.  These are the memories that will stay so dear to our hearts.

Also in February we took our 1st Maddox Family Vacation to Walt Disney World.
This was Isabella's first trip to see Mickey, I'm so glad we were there to share it with her.

In March,  we celebrated Lane turning 14.

In April, Kris & I took a trip back to Disney to celebrate our 15th Wedding Anniversary.  Our anniversary wasn't until June but due to work, we had to go early.

In May, Lane graduated from Middle School.  The last day of school is when his first knee injury occurred.

In June we started our remodel which continued thru December due to all the injuries that occurred in our family this year.  2 knee injuries, 1 hand injury, and 2 surgeries.  So we lived in a mess for what seemed like forever!  This just about made me loose my marbles.

Also in June, Karson & bestie Kennedy went off to camp for the first time.

In August we attended the 2nd Annual Maddox Reunion at Rend Lake.  I married into one of the best families in the world (or I thank so anyway).  They love each other so much and are a blast to be with.  Always a lot of fun.

In August I sent my youngest son off 5th grade.  This will be his last year in elementary school.

And sent my oldest son off to his first day of high school.

At the end of August, we celebrated Karson turning 11.

In October, Lane injured his good knee during Tae Kwon Do.  3 weeks later he had knee surgery.

In December, my mom had back surgery.

We are all doing very well now and are looking forward to a Healthier New Year.

Remember Life Ain't Always Beautiful...........but it's a Beautiful Ride.
Wishing you the best for 2011 - The Maddox Family

Kinley turns 8!

My precious niece Kinley Paige turns 8 on New Year's Eve.  She was what we called "tax baby".  Born just in time for Daddy & Mommy to claim her on their taxes. lol

I have to say that I was a bit overjoyed when I found out that my brother and Tisha was expecting a girl.  I had 2 boys who were no longer babies & I was ready to spoil this one rotten.  I think I bought everything PINK that I could find.  When her mother went back to work after a 6 week maternity leave, I kept this lil Darling every Tuesday for the first year of her life.  I have to say that I grew pretty close to her.  And I'm pretty sure she knows how much her Aunt Piggie loves her.

Lifetime Friends

Yesterday Jenny and I met up with our friend Cortney and her daughter Sarah Beth for lunch and little shopping.   We've been really good friends since elementary school.  We live about 30 minutes away and don't get to see each other as often as we would like to.

I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas

Oh what a joy to wake up to a white Christmas here in Kentucky.  We see a little snow each winter, mostly a couple of 3-4" every now and then.  And sometimes we only see ice or nothing at all.  So for it to come on Christmas, that made my Holiday even better.

O.K. So my kid looks like we're shipping him off to the Marines next week and the other one looks happy about it!  Actually he's just Happy-Go-Lucky all the time.  They kinda balance each other out.  This was Christmas morning before going to my mother-in-laws for Christmas dinner.  So Lane doesn't normally tote a gun everywhere we go, that would only be a couple of knives.  Santa brought the gun to him and he just wanted to show it off to Papaw.   And maybe shoot a few rounds down the road.

A lot of the snow had melted away by dinner time, but Christmas Eve it was beautiful.  We didn't take Kris' truck to my moms that night, so we slid all way home, literally!

Karson just couldn't resist throwing a few snow balls.

We had supper with my older brother Ricky, wife Linda, and my niece Laura Beth Thursday night at my moms along with my other brother and his family.  We don't get to see them on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day so we always try to set another night aside to do Christmas with them.  My nephew Justin was not able to come, I missed him so much!  Wasn't the same without him.

Laura Beth & Kris.  She has grown up so fast.  She's has her CNA's and is working toward nursing school.
