Coal Friends, Family, V-Day Road Trip, Update on Lane's Knee

Last weekend our Coal Friends Tommy & Barbara invited us over to watch the UK game.  Well the guys watched the game in the garage and girls caught up with each other, ate way too much and played Dance Off on the XBox.  The food was amazing!! Barbara did it all herself and had enough there to feed an Army.  Those that didn't make it missed out on some good food!  And good conversation.

The Hostess!

Matt & Kourtney came over this week to visit and brought sweet lil Kam with them.  She's just so cute, melts my heart to Kris with babies..  He seems to always have a way with babies.  He's such a good daddy, really wished we would of had more ourselves.

Have you noticed that the hubby doesn't have his sling on?  He's improving everyday.  He can now use his arm around the house but has to wear the sling when he's out.

For Valentine's Day, the hubs took me and his parents on a little road trip.  We visited a few winery's in Central Kentucky and visited Lake Cumberland.  First stop was at  Cedar Creek Winery.

The view here is gorgeous!  Even in the winter.  It was so quite & peaceful.  Ahhhhh.

Back to the truck with purchases in hand.

New stop, Sinking Valley Winery.
No pretty views here, was disappointed, it looked like a liquor store :(
But the Blueberry Wine was Delish!!!!!

Next we headed to Cumberland Falls State Park Resort.  Had supper at the lodge, it was yummy!

After dinner we went back to the cottage, built a fire (kinda), and shared some wine & cheese.  Spent sometime just chatting with the in-laws.  And just enjoyed some down time.

The next morning we headed out to see the falls.  The weather was yucky and we didn't want to risk Kris falling on his shoulder so we just stopped for a few pictures and decided to we would just have to make a trip back this summer when everyone was healed up.

After a quick stop at the falls, we were on the road again.  Stopped at some Goodwill's on the way to Bardstown and visited Maker's Mark Bourbon Distillery.

Such a good little trip.  Enjoyed my time with Kris' Mom & Dad and time away with the hubs.

Yesterday I took Lane and a couple of his friends to Nashville for a doctors appointment.  On the way, we met up with one of my longtime besties Terri Beth, her husband Dave and son Bryant.  Was a short visit, but any chance to catch up is always great!

Lane's doctor appointment didn't give us any good news.  He will be having surgery on his left knee in 3 weeks. This surgery will be more extensive than the past surgery on his right knee.  He will spend a few days in the hospital and will be home bound from school for the rest of the school year.  It's a very painful surgery but needs to be done ASAP.  We can't chance him messing up the back of the knee.  We were told that if he injured it more, he (the doctor) may not be able to repair it.  So it's pretty serious that it needs to be done as soon as possible.   I remember the pain he went through with the last surgery, so I just dread this one.  Dr. Anderson is very confident that he can rebuild his knee.  And we trust his judgement and can't say enough about his staff. They are all just wonderful.  So please remember Lane in your prayers and all the doctors & staff that will be working with him.   It makes you feel like the worst parent in the world telling him that this is a "have to" surgery, I would so take his place if I could.   So the next few weeks I'll be searching for things to keep him occupied.  If you have any ideals, send them my way.  Thanks!

Finding the Perfect Home

I came home yesterday from Kroger and the hubs had found this while I was gone.......
A refurbished barn turned into a Rustic & Simple Home.  Oh I'm in love.  We've been looking at plans and photos for about 6 months and this is the closest we've found to what we want.

The Kitchen is just about perfect, very little changes here.  Maybe a different island/bar.

Perfect.

Perfect for the boys.

I'm still in love with the following ideals as well.  Maybe a few changes.  I still love these too.

Now I need to focus on selling our home.  It just seems like with all the sickness we've had, the timing just hasn't been right.  But I'm so ready to buy some land and start building again.
